Here I will be posting some services and perks available to only JETs under the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education.

Benefit Station

Starting April 1, 2020, JETs employed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education will become "fiscal year employees" giving them access to the discounts provided by Benefit Station (BS) through the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Personnel Support Foundation (東京都人材支援事業団) or Jigyodan for short. Simply put, it's similar to having a subscription to a massive coupon book!

Please note that most discounts change or are updated on April 1st, the start of the fiscal year. It may take some time before these updates are reflected on Benefit Station's English website.

Registration

On April 1, 2024, the Benefit websites have been updated and an app is now available! If you were using the previous website, or are new please check the sign-up instructions below.

Login method 1: New users and first time logging into new system

1. Enter the Organization ID: C0550000X
2. Enter your employee number that is 8 digits
3. Enter your birthday YearMonthDay (19990206)
4. Hit the red next (次へ) button. Input your contact information
5. Receive email from BeneAccount Registration and follow the URL to complete registration

Login method 2: Previous website users

1. Enter your 15 number ID or email address
2. Enter your password
3. Hit the red next (次へ) button. You will be guided to the Benefit Station sign up
4. Input your information and follow the instructions

If you forgot your old login information please register through method 1.

If you are proficient in Japanese, you can read through Jigyodan’s monthly magazine IBUKI. Copies are sent every month to your administrative office. Benefit Station’s website has a search feature that allows you find discounts by Menu No. , keyword, category and area. Benefit Station has an English website, however, it is only partially translated.

  • Please read the User's Guide found at the top of the site!
  • The English website has untranslated parts and does not list as many offers as the Japanese website does. If you can read Japanese, try using the Japanese site. You can also machine translate the Japanese site (there is an option at the bottom middle area, however the translations can be pretty interesting. The Japanese official app also has a map feature that allows you to find discounts that can be used near you. I have listed some of the available offers below in hopes of making the benefits more accessible to you.

Q&A

Q1. Do I have to register?

A1. Yes, JETs meet the requirements such as being "employees for the fiscal year" and enough work days. Membership costs 0.37% of your monthly remuneration.

Q2. How do I register?

A2. Your school's administrative office will complete the registration paperwork. Your school will receive your membership card approximately one month after registration.

Q3. How do I login to Benefit Station's website?

A3. In order to login to the Benefit Station website you will need your 15-digit membership ID that is written on your membership card and password. When your membership card is sent to your school, it will come with an initial password that you need the first time you login. After logging in for the first time, please change your password.

Q4. Can my friends or family also use the discounts?

A4. Friends who are not members cannot use the discounts. Spouses and second-degree relatives can use the discounts. (See the Benefit Station User's Guide (English version) for details.

Q5. How do I obtain the discounts?

A5. Depending on the discount, you may need to call the number provided, print out or show the coupon on your phone, or you can simply show your card when you make the purchase. Look out for any deadlines. Some coupons may only be valid for a certain period of time before you have to reissue them. Offers are also available for limited periods of time so look out for the プラン公開期間 (plan availability period).

Q6. What do I do if I lose my membership card, forget my membership ID or forget my login password?

A6. If you lose your membership card, you can ask your administrative office to apply to get it reissued. If you forget your membership ID or password, you can reset it by contacting the Benefit Station Customer Center (0800-9192-505/ weekdays 10:00~21:00/ weekends & holidays 10:00~18:00).

Q7. What are BENEPO (ベネポ)?

A7. BENEPO are Benefit Station Points. (Benefit + Points = BENEPO) Certain services offer you a certain percentage of your purchase back in BENEPO. One BENEPO is equivalent to 1 yen. You can use BENEPO you have accumulated to purchase certain services. Services where you can accumulate BENEPO are labled with an icon that says "ベネポ（貯）". Services where you can use BENEPO are labled with "ベネポ（使）".

Benefit Station Online Shop Bene mail order (ベネ通販)

The Benefit Station Online Shop has a variety of goods at discounted prices including food, appliances, furniture, handbags, watches, and skincare products under the Benefit station website or app. You can search by selecting a category or enter a keyword.
